Somebody Has To Say It

Many of you wonderful people visiting my blog today and reading this post will quite possibly already be caught up in the world of work. The day job. The nine-to-five. The grind. There are many names for the jobs we do, but one thing that remains universal, is that at some point our lives, we are going to give our blood, sweat and tears for a job which is, quite frankly, bullshit. Now, my friends, we all know that this may come in many forms, for example, you are a newbie to your company or industry, thus you are the 'skivvy'. Your manager or boss has an ego the size of Africa and everyday you grind your teeth and force yourself to laugh at his incredibly pompous jokes. Another thing you may find, is that the office gossip may vaguely remind you of being at the school playground again. There will always be things or people that clash, in any employment , even right down to that ONE, that one who has the last bit of milk from the kitchen and doesn't get a new pint, ever. In an ideal world we will all have fabulous jobs that make us extraordinarily happy on a daily basis, fulfils our ambitions and makes us filthy rich, and it is important to strive for this, because that is the first step in achieving these goals. We may find, however, that for whatever reason it may be, maybe out of desperation to find work, to get your foot in the door of your chosen industry, a job to supplement your student lifestyle, we are in this position now and all we can do is keep a level head and carry on! Extraneous variables may also contribute to how we feel whilst at work on a daily basis, but like I said, this is all very important whether it be to our short term or long term goals. Make sure you take time off to pamper yourselves, spend time with friends and loved ones, and spend your hard earned cash! Buy a calendar with pictures of various hot destinations around the world and place it where you will see it everyday! Share your work stresses over a bottle of vino with the girls. Imagine your what you want to achieve in your professional life every now and then so that you don't loose sight of why you are doing what you are doing! If all else fails, the best thing for me personally is a couple of deep breaths and a cuppa!

Chanel and Paris.

As an extensions of my previous post of what I got up to in Paris (mainly shopping) I thought I would share with you what I bought when I was in this beautiful city. Now before I go on I must say that I am not fabulously rich just fortunate enough to be able to put some money away for things we all really need! (Ok, well, not really NEED but they are definitely going to be an useful asset to my daily life... Yes, you could say I am fashion delirious.)

I started my shopping excursion in Paris with a goal in mind - find something I will buy and keep forever which will serve as a reminder of Paris at times and remind me that I am capable of success... which could lead to many, many more Chanel purchases one day. We first took a trip down Avenue Montaigne to a large Chanel boutique and had a look around, I gawped at the bags and accessories like a fish. It seems to me that the more impressed and taken aback by the quality and finish of these gorgeous bags, you will find yourself not receiving much attention from the sales assistants. The women I saw to be trying out bags and purchasing them looked like they were on a shopping mission! Many knew what they wanted already and didn't seem to be very excited about the fact that they were about to purchase these bags, mostly everything felt rushed and rather like a scramble to get to the bags. Anyway, I didn't buy anything at this store as it was far too busy and I didn't see anything within my price range.

I ended up making my purchases at Galeries Lafayette, for which you can find the location and info details in my previous post. Shopping in this department store was like nothing I have ever seen or done before.. The sheer size and decadence was astonishing. You can find anything you want. But mostly it will come at a price. And probably some pushing too. We headed over to Louis Vuitton first which, although very busy, if you wait patiently for an assistant to help you, they will help you and you only. I looked at a few card holders, coin purses, but they weren't really exactly what I was looking for, so we carried on. Just last the Hermes watch boutique we found the mini Chanel boutique, which we found to be a little more difficult to get into, having its own four walls, inside this department store. We stopped outside and were ushered into a roped off area for queuing. After about ten minutes we were inside and I decided this time as I was assigned an assistant immediately, to ask to see any small accessories they have such as their purses. Some caught my eye, but to cut to the chase, I settled on one small coin purse and one small card holder, both in a beautiful black lambskin. I plan to use these if I am dashing out of the house, or going for a few drinks with the girls! Let me know what you think and what your favourite designer item is!

Vive La Paris!

Ok so I have a lot to update you all on!

I've been doing a lot of travelling lately and generally been very busy! Due to my love for the world of fashion, I thought it about time that I make the trip to the fashion capital of the world (disputed, but we all know it's true!).. Anyway I thought I would share with you what I got up to and more importantly the best places to shop in Paris! So, we arrived in Paris and eventually finding our hotel I decided that, because it was within walking distance, we would grab a quick bite to eat and then head straight out to the famous Champs Élysées. We started at the beginning of the Champs Élysées, eventually working our way along the shops, edging our way towards the Arc de Triomphe. Along the way we passed a turning onto one of the most expensive streets to shop along in all of Paris, Avenue Montaigne. Along there you can find Chanel, Dior, Ralph Lauren, Fendi and Valentino as well as jewellers such as Bulgari, it adjoins Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré which is home to the likes of Lanvin and Hermes. Along the champs élysées itself you can find high-street brands mixed with high-end and concession stores such as Sephora. Make sure to check out the famous Ladurée, a maker of luxury cakes and pastries, their macaroons are to die for, but can be expensive at €14 for 6 in a small gift box!

If you would prefer all of your shopping in one place then take a trip to Galeries Lafayette, an upmarket French department store company located on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.
Just along from Galeries Lafayette is Printemps store which is similar, both of these department stores make for a great big exciting shopping experience and I mean BIG! Let's be honest, most of these shops are very expensive and realistically most of us can afford a mere card holder or coin purse, but the fabulously decadent interiors and elaborate window displays make for a very out of the ordinary window shopping experience.

Mischa Barton opens store in London

 

On August the 8th the gorgeous Mischa Barton launched her new store in Spitalfields Market. She invited some very reputable guests to the event, including Kate Middleton's brother James Middleton, who already has four companies under his belt, also by her side supporting her was her new beau Sebastian Knapp.

Earlier this year Mischa launched her wesbite which sells vinatge-style skirts, leggings, feminine frocks and key signature pieces and more. Her store oficially became open to the public on Saturday, 11th August, where fans could come down and meet and greet her between the hours of 1pm and 4pm! Apparently there is something for everyone when it comes to Barton's designs, young and fun to mature and sophisticated.



Autumn/ Winter trends 2012: What's in?

OK, so here is a little bit about what I have found to be the most trending apparel and accessories for this coming Autumn and Winter seasons!

In New York, for fashion week designers were seen to be using an array of the usual, sometimes boring, winter colors; brown, black, taupe, winter white, gray and dark blue. The designers have also given us a glimpse of the more exciting, bold colors, using these mainly for their evening wear collections, pastels are also sticking around in the evening wear collections in pretty pastel pinks and blue tones - I can almost visualize the perfect floaty girly dress now!

Deep jewel tones are the way to go this Autumn/ Winter!

Make your coat a statement next season! If you are without a statement coat then now is the time to go out and grab yourself one (or soon!). Coats that are different in any way are going to be big next season, whether it's the material, the print, or the way it's made with parts disproportional, I'm loving this long coat from Topshop so loveable AND affordable!

Big and bold bangles are going to be big for Autumn and Winter, whilst you're at it make sure to pick up some bangles if you haven't any already! For this season we may see some Gothic looking jewelry finding it's way to our mainstream stores, mainly in the form of pendants!

 

The Fedora is one of the BIGGEST trends! It's squirmed it's way back into fashion! So make sure you aren't seen without one of these for this season! The Fedora hat is an amazing accessory for Winter, pair it with your statement coat and you have one amazing and bang on trend look going on there! Plus how warm will you be?!

 

Halle Berry is taken to hospital after accident!

Halle Berry has been rushed to hospital in LA, the accident occurred on Tuesday whilst the actress was filming on the set of her new movie. It is confirmed that Berry is well and after being properly checked over has been released, it seems she suffered a minor head injury after accidentally bumping her head! 

Berry needs to keep out of harms way if she is to avoid missing out on any other important appearances as she had to miss the Academy Awards as a result of a broken foot whilst sunning on holiday.
